Not so common in the UK but used extensively by Australian 4WD drive enthusiasts is the REDARC range of DC to DC chargers. From the little DC to DC and MPPT charger only to the all singing & dancing DC to DC, Mains 240V charging and MPPT solar.



The REDARC BCDC1240D In-vehicle Battery Charger is the next generation in REDARC's DC to DC charging technology, with additional features that make it the most advanced dual battery charger on the market.

Featuring a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator, the BCDC1240D will charge from both solar and the alternator simultaneously. With built-in 'Green Power Priority' it will select solar charging first, meaning less load on the alternator.

Suitable for 12 or 24-volt vehicle systems, the unit will also work with either standard or variable/smart alternators.

The BCDC1240D also comes with patented charging profiles, including a lithium charging profile. The 'Dual' input range will continue to charge all other types of batteries including AGM, GEL, standard lead acid and calcium.

As a guide, the BCDC1240D is used for battery bank sizes over 200AH. For smaller batteries of 75-200AH REDARC recommends the BCDC1225D.

Charging lithium batteries
Lithium batteries have improved storage capacity relative to size and weight. They do however require specific charging conditions in order to operate correctly and the battery itself must have an in-built cell management system. REDARC have designed a charging profile within The Manager30 to complement these in-built systems.


Green power priority
The Manager30 is designed to charge an auxiliary battery from multiple sources simultaneously. If 12 volt solar power is available, solar power will be used before topping up the output charging current from another source mains (if available) or DC vehicle power when on the move.


MPPT solar regulator
The built-in Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) solar regulator allows The Manager30 to deliver the maximum amount of power from portable solar panels, even during low light conditions.


Remote monitor
Designed to show you auxiliary battery information and charge status. You can customise how your battery is charged and monitor where the charge is coming from. A user-friendly, graphical display monitor lets you know what’s going on, keeping you in control at all times.

The NLDC-25 from National Luna is a DC to DC battery charger and isolator for a dual-battery system.

It will charge an auxiliary or service battery from a vehicle alternator or Solar panel up to 25A output current.

Traditional 12V and 24V vehicle alternators as well as variable voltage alternators are supported.

The integrated MPPT solar regulator provides a maximum output power of 375W but can support solar panels higher than this.

Solar panel voltages up to 42V can be connected.

The NLDC-25 features a 6-stage charge algorithm that is suitable for any Lead-Acid battery type as well as automotive Lithium-Ion batteries.
